THE MONTESSORI PROGRAM

The ideal age to begin at Campbell is between the ages of 18 months and 3 ½. At this time, the child enters either the Toddler Class or the Primary Class, depending his or her age. This is the beginning of a continuous Montessori program that serves children through the age of 14. When parents enroll a child they make a commitment to schooling for the duration of the program, through the Primary Class, and a further commitment to consider Campbell’s Elementary and Middle School Programs.

It is of utmost importance that a child complete three-year cycles, e.g., children who enter before 3 ½ should remain until after they are 6. In the Montessori classroom, the work practiced and the concepts absorbed during the first two years blossom in the third year, when we see bursts of intellectual growth. The child who completes this three-year program has developed the self-confidence, motivation, and direction that distinguish children who love to learn.Primary students serving parents at Thanksgiving Sharing.

ENROLLMENT

After parents observe a class and have an initial interview, they may decide to enroll their child at Campbell. Admission is subject to an interview with both parents by the Executive Director, often followed by an evaluation of the child. The interview and evaluation help us to determine the child's readiness to begin the program. The interview is also a time to discuss the school's aims and Montessori philosophy with the parents and answer questions.

Children who will be older than 4 years, 6 months as of September 1 will be admitted only at the discretion of the Executive Director. Special consideration may be given to children who have had previous Montessori experience. The school will not accept children concurrently enrolled in another preschool or kindergarten.

Campbell Montessori School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin or religion in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies and other school-administered programs.
