Campbell Montessori School is incorporated as a not-for-profit educational institution and managed by a Board of Trustees. The board is governed by the school’s articles of incorporation and by-laws. The board is comprised of a minimum of 7 members, two of whom are parent representatives serving two-year terms. Parent candidates for board service are nominated placed on a ballot when each term expires. Each Campbell parent votes on the candidate of his or her choice.
Members of the Board of Trustees serve as custodians of the integrity of the school, holding in trust the school’s future as well as its present. The board as a whole represents continuity and permanent responsibility. As such, the board is the policy-making body of the school. It is responsible for establishing and reviewing the philosophy and objectives of the school, for effective implementation of the policies thereof, and for the school’s fiscal well-being. The board selects and evaluates the Executive Director, to whom they delegate responsibility for implementation of policies. The director guides the board in formulating the school’s mission and in developing its strategic plan. The director carries out the operating plan and annual budget, as approved by the board. The director also has the duty to report to the board on school matters, and is accountable to the board for effective, businesslike management of the school.
Questions for the board should be directed to the Executive Director or one of the parent trustees, who will bring them to the board for discussion if they fall under its jurisdiction. Serving as the professional educational leader of the institution, the Executive Director has complete responsibility for faculty, staff and student selection, evaluation and dismissal. He or she articulates the mission of the school and is responsible for the professional quality and behavior of the faculty.
If you would like to serve on the board, or nominate someone to serve, please contact the Executive Director or any trustee and your name will be forwarded to the nominating committee.
